Laundry day
So a guy walks into a cafe at 6 pm, looks at the barista and says “good morning”. She proceeds to laugh at him, while he trys to salvage face and continue his coffee order. There was no save, in fact, it crashed and burned real fast and hard.
Yes. that chap was me.
I think i’ve over used my engine this last week, putting in 80 hours at the office and at Outdoor Retailer. I...

Ah. That was great Saturday. Checked a big goal off my list (Hit Broom Closet, 25+ foot cliff, however, stupid go-pro didn’t capture it). Anyways, it was a great day all over the mountain. Here’s a few highlights that the camera did manage to catch.
Tomorrow brings high hopes of more snow, landing the broom closet, hitting 45 footer King Kong, and high speed forbidden zone runs. I...
My worst fear. Yikes.
Jackson Hole in 24 hours
After a few set backs to the Jackson Hole trip i had planned three months in advance. I decided to suck it up, and meet the rest of the Cliff Huckstables up in Jackson for one day of skiing on Sunday. So Dave and I departed after working at REI at about 7pm on Saturday, hoping to get to Jackson around 1130 pm. Just in time to meet the rest of the gang at the cowboy bar for some line dancing....
Andrew enjoying the fluff off Little Superior. 2,500 vertical feet of delicious powder before work! Love it!
I was 7 for 9 on my weekend goals. Instead of touring twice, i skied the bird twice (both pow days, I ain’t too mad) and I forgot to take a picture! 7 for 9 is a hell of a batting average though. Here are the highlights that my camera actually managed to catch. Enjoy!

excitement burst
I don’t know who else to tell, so i will tell the interwebz (ie the 7 people who read this blog. hi mom).
for the first time since the tragedy that was the night before the TCU game, where I broke my collar bone, I can do push ups!
Yippeeee
Goodluck getting these 13 seconds of useless reading back. Suckers.
Speaking of facets
As I watch the backcountry (and my ambition to get out there) deteriorate due to a trio of meteorological factors that cause surface faceting of the snow( a bad thing), I’ve been thinking alot about the term “facet”, and not in the snow sense.
My life, will always be multi-faceted.
And, damn it, if it is not, I’ve made a wrong turn.
I don’t want to be defined by...

Buzzcut #2
As I sat outside Supercuts, waiting to get my ears lowered, in the warming 65 degree California sun, I was approached by a wheelchaired man. Firt thing he asked me was “You from Utah”? I immediately thought, damn this dudes good! Then I realized I was wearing a Utes shirt and hat. Apparently the Boise St. Vegas Bowl Catastrophe hasn’t sunk in yet. Anyways, we got to talking...
A little fun with the homies this weekend! Enjoy everyone!
Weekend hangover.
After a great weekend skiing and being with my greatest friends. Today has been somewhat of a killer, downer, weekend hangover day.
Life is moving in a great direction for me right now, just in a bit of a different way than I would have imagined say a month ago. It all kind of hit me this morning, right in the head. I don’t have any remedy or asprin for it at the time but to keep on pushing...
Its been 9 hours since this run, and I still can’t describe how unreal it was. Maybe later Ill jot down some thoughts about this morning. but here, enjoy.
After touring on Sunday, we made our back into Little Cottonwood Canyon for some BBQ and some turns. Heres proof!
A little morning tour in The Willows before heading for a BBQ and High Speed Laps at the ‘Bird. This was Dave’s maiden tour, and his first time on ski’s in 10 years. He provided high quality and frequent laughter in the super dense, manky powder we found. Here’s a little POV and blackmail on Dave.
The fact that Tumblr is suggesting me Dinosaur blogs is making me incredibly happy right now. Who wants to go to Dinosaur National Monument?
Senior Lopez.
There comes a point.
There comes a point in my life, where I just need to go ski. And damnit that time is now! I am looking forward to a morning tour before work tomorrow. And two full days of ripping with crew at the ‘Bird this weekend.
Never ending math equation.
Just when I thought I had most things figured out in this unbelievably complicated equation that is life, I realized I got one of my signs mixed up. As my favorite band, Modest Mouse puts it “the universe is a math equation that never ever really ever ends.” I don’t think I’m supposed to figure this damn equation out, but hell if im going to stop trying. By the way, I still...

Whoa
SO FAR this season:
252 unintentional, human triggered avalanches in the backcountry
52 caught
19 partial burials
5 total burials
11 injured
3 killed
I think I will stay inbounds on this sunny friday. Day #50 for me today, and I’m celebrating by skiing with two great friends (Ayrowyn and Ado) and “trying” to get over a nasty little cold. Be addicted to skiing is a brutal...
Solo
Last night at the Banff Mountain Film Festival here in SLC, I saw a mix of motivating, captivating, laughter inspiring and tear jerking adventure films. While most were stories of friendship, accomplishment and beauty, one film, which happened to win the Banff Film Festival reminded us all that adventure doesn’t always come without tragedy.
This film was Solo: Lost at Sea, a one-hour...
A few fun powder runs from Snowbird back when it used to snow and my helmet cam worked. Boy those sure were the days.
